The Best Reason to Cloth Nappy
Yoho Reusable Cloth Nappies - Environmentally Friendly!
Did you know that it is estimated that one child from newborn to toddler that wears disposable nappies alone, will have around 6000 nappy changes!! Based on this estimate it could cost anywhere between $4000-$6000 per child. That's a lot of dosh and a lot of waste on the environment!
It does not matter whether you use 1 or 25 cloth nappies, each cloth nappy that you use will make a significant impact on our environment. One cloth nappy alone will save around 365 disposable nappies going to landfill a year - that is definitely food for thought
Never has there been a greater reason to switch to reusable cloth nappies...
Fitting the Nappy
- Prepare the Nappy: Lay out the nappy flat. Ensure the inserts are properly placed and if you have more than one have the most absorbent at the back.
- Lift the Baby: Carefully lift your baby's legs and place their bottom on the nappy.
- Position Correctly: The nappy should be at the same level as your baby’s waist. Ensure it's not too high or too low.
- Secure the Nappy: Fasten the nappy snugly. Adjust the domes to achieve a comfortable but firm fit. You can pre snap together the 'rise' domes (the domes at the front to make the nappy smaller).
- Check the Leg Holes: Ensure there are no gaps around the thighs. It should be snug but not too tight to avoid discomfort or marks on the skin. Running your finger around these works well.
- Adjust the Waistband: The waistband should be snug but comfortable. You should be able to fit two or three fingers under the waistband but no more.
- Final Inspection: Do a final check to ensure the nappy is even, sung, but comfy.
Importance of a Secure, but Comfortable Fit:
Having a snug fitting reusable nappy is crucial for preventing leaks and blowouts. A well-fitted nappy ensures that all waste is contained within the nappy, keeping your baby comfortable and preventing any mess from escaping. This not only keeps your baby clean and dry but also reduces laundry and clean-up time. Additionally, a secure fit helps to avoid skin irritations and ensures the nappy stays in place as your baby moves and plays.
